Japan unveils Japanese elements at World Expo in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama wished the Shanghai 2010 World Expo "a complete success" in a video shown in Shanghai Wednesday, one day before the 100-day countdown of the event.

The video was played at a press conference Wednesday by Japanese officials to unveil highlights of Japanese elements in the World Expo.

According to the video, Japan's exhibition themes on the harmony between people and technological cooperation.

Yukio Hatoyama said in the video that people around the world must work together in the spirit of friendship to jointly address environmental and other issues of various sorts.

The Japanese pavillion will highlight technologies to tackle environmental issues, including carbon capture technologies, devices to turn sewage into drinking water, and also power-generating floors and windows.

It will also showcase robots that take care of senior citizens and provide medical assistance and housekeeping service in an aging society.

The Expo will start on May 1 and last through Oct. 31.(Xin Hua News)
