Peking University, Beijing, Sept. 24th: The teleplay ‘Chinese Overseas Students’ presented the first public performance in the PKU Hall of our Peking University at seven o’clock on Sep. 23rd 2005. At the same time, the ‘Forum of Study abroad’ came into the university for the first time, into our Peking University.

Zhang Jiaoyi from Peking University and Kong Jie from BTV hosted that night. The subeditor of BTV, Liu Xiao, and the undersecretary of the Department of Publicity of Peking University, Sun Zhanlan, each made their congratulating speech.

This activity has two main points: One is to present and recommend the new teleplay and the other is to discuss with PKU students the overseas life of Chinese students.

Communicate with the Production Manager, Directors and the Musician

As to recommend the teleplay the production manager of this teleplay Sun Xu came to the audiences first, followed by the directors and the musician.

The production manager told the audiences a lot about the teleplay such as why he would like to choose such a topic in his teleplay. As he said, he once had a dream of studying in one of the best universities in China such as Peking University, but it fell through. And then he would like to have an overseas studying life, but it fell through too. So he wanted to make a teleplay about the overseas students just as a way to make his dream come true. And he also had an ambitious plan of his teleplay. He would like to make one teleplay about the Chinese overseas students every 5 years. And after about 20 years his teleplay will be about 125 episodes long all together.

After the talk of the production manager, two of the directors came to meet the audiences. The activity turned into a Question and Answer Part. The ebullient audiences asked the directors and the production manager questions about the teleplay and about the overseas life and so on. The atmosphere was rather exiting.

Then there came the famous musician Su Yue. He wrote songs in this teleplay. He said with a humor: ‘I’m very glad to hear that you like the songs in this teleplay. What I’d like to say is that if you had watched this teleplay you’ll like them much more.’ Then he sang one song in this teleplay with four students of Peking University for all the audiences.

Communicate with the Actors

Students of our Peking University played an opusculum to welcome the ‘Forum of Study abroad’ coming into our campus. Then some of the leading actors in the teleplay came to have a discussion of the overseas life with all the audiences.

The leading actress was the beautiful young lady Chen Shuang, who was the champion of the ‘University World Miss Contest’. She talked about her overseas life and her future plan. She showed the students how an overseas dream could come true.

Another leading actor was the ‘Chocolate King’ Yang Zhimin, who was a PhD of Biology. He had a store selling top level chocolate which was made by himself in Canada. He told the students to follow their interest so as to find their own way tosuccess.

And there also came a special guest Wang Huiyao. He had experienced a very rich and colorful job life. He was a MBA and once worked as a diplomat, as a businessman and so on. He told all the students that the key point of the overseas life is to see the world and ourselves more clearly.

At last the audiences enjoyed one episode of the new teleplay with the actors, the production manager and the directors together.

The premiere was then over in applause. And this teleplay will be show in BTV during the National Day’s holiday. (Source: PKU NEWS ,By Ning Jing)
